On that morning, I was late. By the time I rushed to the hotel, I was 10 minutes late for the appointment. Immediately I followed the promotion staff to a “closed” room in the twenty-something floor while feeling very apologetic for keeping four handsome guys waiting.
I waited for a while but they did not appear. The promotion staff said to wait a little longer. Later, after approximately another 20 minutes, we received a phone call informing us of a change in plans. The four handsome guys decided to pack up first, so that later as soon as they finish the interview, they would be able to leave right away for the Autograph session scheduled at 12 noon at Fong Yong before leaving for the airport at 1 pm to catch the flight back to Taipei. The staff will take care of their luggage and other boarding procedures while they are at the Autograph session.
Approximately around 11 am, the four guys finally appeared. Perhaps because it was morning, they seemed to be well-rested, in good spirits and with smiles on their faces. Arron, the youngest, and also the one who looked most mischievous among the four said as soon as he saw me: [Hi! Good morning, I am Arron. This is Chun (introducing Wu Chun), how are you?” Although I replied with: [I’m fine], I was actually a bit stunned. I asked the promotion staff next to me in Cantonese: [What’s wrong with your friend?] He then taught me to use Cantonese to “stun” them back because they could only understand but they could not speak it. This method really worked as Arron said in resignation: [I don’t know how to speak Cantonese!]
I thought the interview could officially start but Arron had absolutely no intention of reining in his playfulness. He continued his mischief and asked me: [Are you Maggie?] and immediately turned around and introduced me to Wu Chun: [This is Maggie.] I couldn’t help but blurted: [No, I’m not Maggie, my name is Olivia.] Arron immediately said in a pseudo-serious tone: [Hi Olivia, nice to meet you.] which led into momentary laughter from the others. After playing for a while, Arron finally settled down (the other three were quite quiet and did not join him in his mischief). Finally, the interview could start, I thought to myself.
I didn’t know if I should find it to be funny or irritable but this type of opening dialog was pretty original.
The Malaysia stop of the Fahrenheit’s Fantasy Concert Tour will take place on November 15 at the National Sports Arena in Bakit Jalil. Malaysian fans had been anticipating this concert for a long time. They sure will be coming to the concert in high excitement. Fans loved to watch Fahrenheit, but do they know whose concert Fahrenheit wanted to watch the most? Of all the concerts, which singer’s concert would they considered as the best? Also, who would they most wish to come to their concert? Let these four handsome guys provide the answers for you!
Let’s chat a bit about the most fascinating concert that you have seen.
Chun: Michael Jackson. That year, the king of Brunei invited him to hold a concert. It was a free concert. I feel that for a concert that the audience didn’t need to pay and the performance could still be so good, it really was very fascinating.
Arron: I feel it is MayDay. Their rock music can interact with the audience and gives the feeling of blood boiling. What they are most amazing is that they have intimate interactions on stage with those in the audience. I went to their concerts twice in Taiwan!
Jiro: The most fascinating is Linkin Park. I feel that they are incredible. Their live performance could sound exactly like the CD. I personally like rock bands. Even though they did not have much flowery physical movements but the music in their souls can stir the audience of over 40,000 people. I was very impressed by it.
Calvin: Earlier this year, I watched the Beyonce concert. It was a 2-hour performance. The flow of the program was tightly arranged. She did not say much, only concentrated in singing. And the whole team was very professional, making the audience watching the performance without blinking.
Whose concert would they most want to see?
Chun: I really want to see Celin Dion. Last time when I was at Las Vegas, I really wanted to get tickets but her shows were all sold out so I didn’t get to see it. Later, I watched the concert DVD. Wow, it was truly amazing. I still regret not able to get tickets that time.
Arron: I want to see Radiohead. My friend saw the concert they held in Japan earlier. He said it was really worth seeing. It is easy to resonate with their music. If they come to Taiwan, I definitely would see it.
Jiro: I still want to see Michael Jackson. I remembered his concert when I was in high school, was the first time I bought tickets to see a concert. His songs and dances were really very good. He was very successful in having the audience move along with him. Since there had not been any news of him performing in so many years, there is some anticipation to wanting to see it again.
Calvin: I want to see 50 Cent. Earlier he was performing in Taiwan but because I was working and had to give it a miss. I also really want to see 50 Cent and Eminem perform together, because I really like the feel of hip-hop and rap performances. I am sure they would create a very exciting atmosphere.
Chun interrupted: It’s always like that. Whenever we really want to watch someone’s performance, typically they don’t sing or can’t sing anymore. I hope our fans would not hold this type of attitude towards Fahrenheit later. (The other three laughingly agreed.)
In your fantasy, who would you most wish to come to your concert?
Chun: I hope to see Michael Jordan demonstrating “dunking” at the concert. I had always wanted to be a basketball player but I am not tall enough. So I would only watch Jordan play on TV. If he appears in the Fahrenheit concert that would certainly create a uproar!
Arron: I wish to have Angelina Jolie come and see our concert. If she really does come, I wouldn’t mind if Brad Pitt accompanied her!
Jiro: I most wish to have the goddess of my dreams Kelly Chan to come. Even though she just newly married but if she appears, I would be excited even if I am just a member of the audience.
If you have a girlfriend, would you take her to watch a concert together?
Arron & Jiro: Of course! Definitely must share the experience with loved one.
Chun: Before when I was watching the Celine Dion concert DVD and at the part when she was singing the “Titanic” theme song {My Heart Will Go On}, I felt that if I brought my girlfriend with him, the atmosphere would definitely be very touching.
Have the four of you ever been to a concert together?
Arron: Yes, we have! The Fahrenheit concert! Hahaha~ (Everyone started laughing)
What is your expectations for the concert in Malaysia?
Jiro: A perfect performance.
Calvin: I hope the stage can be extended a bit more because the way the stage extended in the Hong Kong concert wasn’t bad. Usually there is always some distance between the concert stage and the audience but if the stage can be extended a bit more, it would allow better interactions with the audience.
Chun: The Malaysia concert is hold outdoor, so it better not rain!
Epilogue:
The interview ended with them writing, in all seriousness, a message to themselves regarding the concert. After they finished writing, my interview would be done. As everyone said goodbye, Arron did not call me “Maggie” again. Instead he called out with a laugh, “Bye bye Olivia”. As for Wu Chun who was next to him, when he found out that I am a reporter from the {Singapore Daily}, he smiled and said: [My home in Brunei also subscribes to the {Singapore Daily}.] The sincere attitude of Wu Chun, in comparison to the mischievousness of Arron, he was much more matured. As for Jiro and Calvin, their behavior that day was quite proper, just watching Arron being mischievous with a smile.
